ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS

                   Owner/Instructor Holly Hodgkin has been instructing students in Scottish Highland Dancing since 1992.  She
is a member of both the Highland and Scottish National branches of the British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD).  She served two consecutive two-year terms as the Midwest Region’s delegate to the Federation of US Teachers and Adjudicators (FUSTA).  In 2004, she became a member of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing Judge’s Panel.   She is currently serving as the Midwest Regional Judge's Chair.

                 Holly began dancing in 1978 at the age of eight.  She enjoyed a highly successful competitive career, winning numerous awards and trophies at competitions throughout the United States, Canada and in Scotland.  She was 2nd Runner up in the Midwest Regional Championship in 1988 and represented the Midwest Region at the United States Inter-Regional Championship (USIR) in Alexandria, VA.  Holly has also studied ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance.  Holly is a 1992 graduate of Michigan State University.  She is married to John and they have three children, Maggie, Colin and Skye... all of whom dance. 

                 Holly’s students have also found competitive success, winning individual dancing awards totalling in the thousands.  Her original group and solo choreographies consistently take top honors as well.

OUR FACILITIES:
 
         All Hodgkin Highlanders School of Dance classes are held in our 600 sq. foot studio in Fenton.  The studio features raised platform floors, ballet bars, full wall of mirrors, stereo sound, private changing area, and comfortable parent waiting room (with bulletin boards, calendars, etc.)
 
         Prospective students are welcome to visit our studio and observe a class or two.  Contact us for location and directions.
 

  

                   Instructor Abigail Bearman is a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD) - Highland Branch.  She is also a member of FUSTA and served on the USIR 2010 Committee.  Abby is currently a competitive Highland Dancer at the Premier level.  She has expertise in sports training, injury prevention, CrossFit, and nutrition.   She is employed by Oakland University. 

 

                   Abby began dancing at the age of 5.  She danced successfully throughout the US and Canada until the age of 12, when she gave up Highland Dancing to pursue sports.  She returned to Highland at age 24, and has achieved much success in both Highland and Choregraphy competitions.
