8/16/2010 St. ANDREW'S HIGHLAND GAMES and USIR WEEKEND of DANCE
It is now the middle of August... and we have two successful weekends of highland dancing behind us. :) Congrats to Jamie, Eliza, Cameron, Colin and Skye for bringing home the hardware! Woo hoo! Kudos to Abby for making a great post-injury comeback which included 11 individual competitive dances PLUS two choreographies in just two weeks! Amazing! Additionally, several of our dancers participated in the "Fling for Logan", a massed Highland Fling which served as a fundraiser for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition affecting 6 year old Logan, the son of one of our USIR judges, Gareth Mitchelson. The event raised $800.

What a great weekend in Ontario's Niagara Falls area! Some sight-seeing, some tourist-trapping, some wine-tasting and some medal-winning! Congrats COLIN on your first place finish in a field of 20 talented dancers! We love you! Alma, here we come! Niagara attracts some of Highland Dancing's best... we got to watch World Champion-level dancers all afternoon. What a treat!

11/2/09 ST. ANDREW'S SOCIETY OF DETROIT SCHOLARSHIP PERFORMANCE
Five Hodgkin Highlanders were awarded Scottish Arts Scholarships through the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit's William H. kincaid Schlarship program this year. Maggie F., Anna, Olivia H., Maggie H. and Colin were invited to perform at the Society's November meeting. Only the girls were able to attend, and all danced beautifully! Anna and Maggie F. performed the Seann Triubhas, while Maggie H. and Olivia presented the Hebridean Laddie.

The Hodgkin Highlanders did it again! A small group of our dancers attended this first-ever Michigan Celtic Classic and came home with lots of hardware! I am so very proud of them all!
